  • National Videogame Museum opens scholarship program for young Texan devs

    [08.15.17]
  • The National Videogame Museum has established four $1,500 scholarships for young developers interested in pursuing a career in game development.

Each of the four scholarships has its own stipulations and most require the applicant to reside within the state of Texas, though the Women in Technology scholarship is accepting applications from all corners of the United States.

Beyond that, the National Videogame Museum requires applicants to be current high school students on track to enroll in a four-year college or university for the Fall 2018 semester. Applications are due by April 1, 2018.

The four $1,500 scholarships, as described by the National Videogame Museum, are as follows:

    • Frisco, Texas Resident: Frisco is home to the National Videogame Museum, and the museum would like to award one applicant within Frisco city limits.

    • Texas Resident:  Applicants must be a current resident of the state of Texas.Texas residents attending out-of-state colleges will be considered in this category.

    • Texas Resident – Title 1 School Graduate:  Applicants must be a current resident of the state of Texas, must be graduating from state of Texas designated Title 1 school and have a household income of $50,000 or less.

    • Women in Technology: Videogame design and technology fields have traditionally been male-dominated. In an effort to bring more diversity to these fields, this scholarship will be awarded to the most qualified female applicant. It is open to females across the U.S.

While applications are not currently live, interested parties should be sure to keep an eye on the museum’s website for more details in the near future.
