Python and how far it can go

I'm sure some of you have read that I'm probably gonna work on a fighting game and looking for people to work with me and such. Well anyhow, I know a bit about python and I'm probably gonna learn more than I do now.

So, can anyone tell me before I do get further into it... How capable of python? If I was to work this project, would it help me in any way, shape, or form in making a fighting game?

Python is very capable. Eve Online is mostly in Python.

Really? That's actually quite impressive. I would have figured it was running on C++, however, if that's the case, I'm convinced to learn a bit more about Python (I might learn a bit of C++ as well when my semester finishes.)

Phython is used extensively as a scripting language. It's very useful.

I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes, but Eve actually uses a variant called Stackless Python.

Is there a major difference between Python and Stackless Python? Are there major differences in the syntax and terms used in normal Python and Stackless Python? What are the major differences? What should I know about Stackless Python that isn't in regular Python?

From a quick glance, Stackless Python looks like to be Python + really good multi-threaded support.
