Default How much of a demand is there for jobs in linguistics?

I' m talking about jobs in the game industry for people who speak more than one language. Is the offer limited to jobs as a Localization Tester or are there more options available? Is it a good idea to simply study a good number of foreign languages and then straight up look for a job in the game industry or would I need a specialization?

Any pertinent info is appreciated.

There are places available regarding translating text in game and manuals. No idea where to look for this though.

I've read lots of job postings that are looking for people fluent in another language, usually Japanese (these were Japanese companies with American branches). I'd say its definitely valuable to know more than one language well, but will the clinch a job in the industry? I'm not sure.

Check out for an easy listing of game developers and publishers to help your job search.
