Hello guys
I am trying to prepare an environment modeller portfolio (for game industry). Could you be so kind to give me feedback about it please? What do you thing I have to improve before I send my portfolio to a potential employer? Do you think I have to use a special website for portfolios? Here is the link http://alexshvab.blogspot.com/ |

Special? No. But I do recommend NOT using a blog as a portfolio site. It comes off as unprofessional and blogs are really poor portfolio templates.
For the content itself: - Do not put in actual blog updates. As an employer, I don't care about your daily ongoings with Panda3D. I care about what you actually can produce. - No CV/Resume link. - No information on each model. How many polys? Multiple angles? Texture mapping? - Some work is decent but some are are lacking details. For example, the interior scene had no lighting. - The truck is lacking in smoothing groups.

Some of that stuff is pretty ugly to look at, in my opinion. Specifically the "room" and the other room with hanging green lights. I would recommend getting someone who knows about interior design, or design, or something, to help you change some colors around. I think if it was prettier, it might have a better effect on people.

1.Missing CV (A Download-able CV option will be good).
2.Pls Dont use blog to show professional work (as stated above) or Use Deviantart to showcase. 3.Upload Textured Models. Last edited by munna_live : 01-14-2011 at 06:26 PM. |

Also, you mentioned that you're looking to sell this as a "Environment modeler" yet 80% of the content doesn't have anything to do with environments (with 50% of the content being trucks).
Also, I would not recommend putting all of your work up on the site. Pick your favorite ten maybe and showcase those. Showing unfinished and unpolished models (even if it was when you were just starting out) misrepresents and lessens your best models.
